The baseball team had a rough weekend after having one of their best weeks of the season just prior to that, losing 3 to 1 to Mt. Zion on Friday and 4 to nothing to Granite City on Saturday. The Senator pitching was outstanding on both days, as Caiden Bietsch threw 6 and two thirds strong innings on Friday followed by another six impressive ones from A.J. Ozier on Saturday. Bietsch allowed 3 runs and Ozier just 2, as both struck out five and walked two, but the Solon bats went cold getting only 7 combined hits over the 2 games. The boys of spring will be back at it looking to improve this week starting tonight at 4:30 in a Senior Day contest at Lanphier Park weather permitting.
The softball team celebrated Senior Night on Friday and picked up a win over New Berlin 12 to 0. Mia Volpert and Bella Pagliara led the way offensively with multiple hits. Volpert went 4 for 4 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI’s while Pagliara had two singles and drove in a run. Volpert also struck out 12 in the circle. Erin Stoops also contributed with a hit and RBI. A special shoutout to our 3 SHS Seniors Emma Marcum, Bella Pagliara and Mia Volpert!
